1 YouTube: How Channels Get Killed
Community Guidelines Strike System
| Event | Penalty | Duration |
| First violation | Warning (not a strike) | Expires in 90 days |
| 1st Strike | Can't upload for 1 week | Strike stays 90 days |
| 2nd Strike (within 90 days) | Can't upload for 2 weeks | Strike stays 90 days |
| 3rd Strike (within 90 days) | Channel PERMANENTLY terminated | FOREVER |
Copyright Strike System (Separate)
- 3 copyright strikes in 90 days = channel terminated, all videos removed, banned from new channels
- Even 5 seconds of unlicensed music triggers Content ID
- YouTube using AI detection in 2026 to spot even tiny bits of copyrighted content
INSTANT TERMINATION (No Warning Needed)
These get your channel deleted IMMEDIATELY:
- Sexual content, nudity, child safety violations
- Extreme violence or graphic content
- Hate speech or harassment
- Spam or scam content
- Illegal activity or drug promotion
- Mass-uploading AI-generated repetitive content (YouTube's #1 termination reason in 2026)
2026 AI Crackdown
YouTube terminated 7.45 million channels recently. Biggest target: AI-generated "slop" — auto-generated text-to-speech videos, stock footage compilations, faceless repetitive content.
WHY YOU'RE SAFE: Your face is on camera. Your voice is real. Your story is authentic. You're the opposite of what YouTube is targeting. Just never mass-upload AI-only content.
Ban Evasion = Nuclear Option
If terminated and you try to create a new channel — reuse branding, re-upload videos, or use connected accounts — YouTube connects the dots and deletes everything across ALL platforms tied to your Google account.
2 TikTok: Ban Rules in 2026
Current Status
TikTok is alive in the US. Deal closed January 22, 2026 — new US-based ownership (Oracle, Silver Lake, MGX). All user accounts migrated to Oracle servers. App works normally.
Strike System
- Warnings expire after 90 days
- Temporary bans: 24 hours to 2 weeks based on severity
- One serious violation (hate speech, dangerous content) = instant permanent ban
Instant Ban Triggers
- Explicit or violent content
- Showing drugs, firearms, tobacco, alcohol, or vaping (even "unboxing" a legal weapon)
- Misinformation/disinformation
- Undisclosed AI-generated content that could mislead viewers
3 Instagram Reels: Rules & Penalties
The Shadowban Problem
Instagram's "shadow ban" (reduced visibility) is a real risk in 2026:
- Banned hashtags — Using ONE banned hashtag makes your post invisible to non-followers. Examples: #pushups, #alone, #brain, #snapchat, #followforfollow
- Excessive activity — More than 40 comments/hour, mass following/unfollowing. Drops reach 40-90%. Lasts 7-21 days.
- Bot/automation tools — Any auto-follow/like services = instant flag
2026 Warning: Surge in false bans — Instagram's AI wrongly flagging innocent accounts. Keep activity natural. Don't "growth hack" with aggressive tactics. Slow and steady on a new account.
4 FTC Affiliate Disclosure — LEGAL REQUIREMENT
This is not optional. The FTC requires disclosure whenever you earn money from a link.
The Rules
- Disclosure must be "clear and conspicuous"
- Must appear near the affiliate links, not buried at the bottom
- For video: disclosure must be IN the video (spoken + on-screen text), not just description
- The word "affiliate link" alone may not be clear enough — most people don't know what it means
EXACT WORDING TO USE
SAY THIS IN YOUR VIDEO (out loud + show on screen):
"Some links in the description are affiliate links —
if you sign up through them, I earn a small commission
at no extra cost to you. It helps support the channel."
PASTE THIS AT THE TOP OF EVERY VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
DISCLOSURE: Some links below are affiliate links. If you
purchase through these links, I earn a small commission
at no extra cost to you. I only recommend tools I
personally use and believe in. This helps support the channel.
LABEL EACH AFFILIATE LINK:
Descript (affiliate link): https://...
CapCut (affiliate link): https://...
OpusClip (affiliate link): https://...
YOUR AFFILIATE STACK (all need disclosure):
Descript ($25/referral), CapCut (35%), OpusClip (25%), Riverside (20% forever), VidIQ (15-25%). Every time you mention these AND have an affiliate link = disclose.
5 AI Content Disclosure Rules
YouTube — What You MUST Disclose
- AI-generated or cloned voices that sound like real people
- Digitally manipulated visuals of a person saying/doing something they didn't
- Fabricated events presented as real
YouTube — What You DON'T Need to Disclose
- AI used for scripts or brainstorming
- AI-generated automatic captions
- AI used for productivity (editing, research)
- Synthetic media that is obviously unrealistic
Penalty for Not Disclosing
- YouTube may forcibly apply a label you can't remove
- Repeated non-disclosure = content removal or Partner Program suspension
YOUR SITUATION = MOSTLY SAFE
You're a real person, on camera, real voice, showing real tools. You're USING AI as a tool, not generating fake content. Most of your content does NOT require AI disclosure.
WHEN YOU WOULD NEED TO DISCLOSE:
AI-generated realistic fake person, cloned voice, fake footage of real events, or AI avatars that could be mistaken for real humans.
6 Music Copyright — What's Safe
SAFE (Zero Risk)
- YouTube Audio Library — 100% free, cleared for monetized videos, no Content ID claims
- Uppbeat, Epidemic Sound, Artlist — Paid services with full licenses
- Music you create yourself
DANGEROUS (Will Cause Claims/Strikes)
- Any popular/commercial song — even 5 seconds
- Music from Spotify, Apple Music — NOT licensed for YouTube
- TikTok trending sounds — NOT automatically safe for YouTube
- "Copyright-free" from random YouTube channels — often NOT actually free
| Type | What Happens | Risk |
| Content ID Claim | Revenue goes to copyright owner. No strike. | Annoying |
| Copyright Strike | Formal takedown. 3 in 90 days = channel dead. | DANGEROUS |
VERDICT: Use YouTube Audio Library exclusively. Zero risk. Thousands of tracks.
7 Showing Logos & Mentioning Brand Names
You're protected under "nominative fair use" when:
- The brand is necessary to identify what you're discussing (Claude AI = yes)
- You're using only what's needed (logo to identify, not as your own branding)
- You're not implying sponsorship or endorsement
VERDICT: Showing Claude, Apple, Uber, Descript logos while talking about those products = LEGAL. Every tech reviewer does this. You're safe.
What WOULD cross the line:
- Using a logo as YOUR brand logo (trademark confusion)
- Saying "Sponsored by Claude" when it's not true
- Defaming a brand while using their logo
Your "Cloud AI" pronunciation: Totally fine. It's clearly your accent, not a competing brand. Adding the Claude logo as cutaway when you say it actually HELPS by correctly identifying the product.
8 Privacy: Screenshots, Earnings, Uber
YOUR Data = Safe to Show
- Your own Uber earnings (aggregate totals, no passenger info)
- App interfaces you're using (Claude, Descript, etc.)
- Your own code/projects on screen
- Your debt screenshot (blur account numbers)
UBER-SPECIFIC — CRITICAL:
- Uber PROHIBITS publishing videos of passengers
- Violating this = loss of driver account (your main income)
- Even blurred faces could violate Uber's terms
- Earnings screenshots without passenger info = SAFE
ALWAYS Redact/Hide
- Credit card / bank account numbers
- Social Security Number
- Uber passenger names, pickup/dropoff addresses
- Other people's faces without consent (California = two-party consent state)
- License plates in parking lot shots
- Street signs near your filming locations
9 New 2026 AI Regulations
California (Where You Live)
- AI Transparency Act (SB 942): AI platforms with 1M+ users must disclose AI-generated content. Applies to platforms (Claude, ChatGPT), not you as a user.
New York — Mid-2026
- Synthetic Performer Law: Ads must disclose AI-generated performers. Your Nano Banana avatars are fine — clearly stylized, not photorealistic.
EU AI Act — August 2026
- Deepfake disclosure required. Penalties up to 15 million euros.
- Platforms will enforce on content reaching EU viewers.
Federal (US)
- No comprehensive federal AI creator law yet
- 38 states passed AI legislation in 2025-2026
- Trend: more disclosure coming, not less
VERDICT: You're a real human making real content. Current regulations don't create major obligations for your content style. Stay honest and you're ahead of the curve.
10 YouTube Demonetization Triggers
- Copyright music — Revenue goes to copyright owner
- Excessive profanity in first 30 seconds — YouTube's ad system scans intros
- "Unoriginal" content (2026 crackdown) — AI text-to-speech, stock compilations, reaction-only videos
- Misleading metadata — Clickbait that doesn't match content
- Screenshots-only videos — Just screenshots without commentary = demonetized
YOUR CONTENT IS SAFE BECAUSE:
- Real person on camera
- Original story
- Authentic voice
- Screen recordings with commentary
- Clear teaching value
AVOID IN THE FUTURE:
- Mass AI-generated shorts
- AI voice clones as main narration
- Videos that are just screenshots + music
- F-bombs in first 30 seconds
- Clickbait that doesn't deliver
PRE-UPLOAD SAFETY CHECKLIST
Go through this before EVERY upload:
- All music from YouTube Audio Library (or original)
- No copyrighted music, even in background of screen recordings
- FTC affiliate disclosure spoken IN video AND written at TOP of description
- "(affiliate link)" label next to each affiliate link
- No Uber passenger faces, names, or addresses visible
- No credit card numbers, SSN, bank accounts visible
- No street signs or exact location identifiers
- No license plates clearly visible
- Logos used only for product ID (not implying sponsorship)
- No false claims of sponsorship or partnership
- YouTube "Altered Content" box checked if AI-generated realistic content
- Title and thumbnail accurately represent content
- No extreme profanity in first 30 seconds
- Instagram: no banned hashtags (check each one)
- World events check: no major crisis dominating feeds in last 48 hours
- File scrubbed for any personal/sensitive data before sharing
